Sports Premium at Olney Infant Academy

The PE and Sport Premium is a vital government initiative designed to help primary schools enhance the quality and breadth of physical education and sporting opportunities for all pupils. At Olney Infant Academy, we use this funding strategically to inspire a lifelong love of physical activity, improve health outcomes, and develop essential skills such as teamwork, resilience, and confidence.

Through targeted investment in high-quality teaching, specialist coaching, and a diverse range of activities, we ensure every child has access to engaging and inclusive PE lessons, after-school clubs, and competitive opportunities. Our pupils participate in sports both within the curriculum and beyond—many represent local U-6 and U-7 football and rugby teams, and take part in community tennis tournaments and other events.

We are proud that participation rates in sport and physical activity at our school are exceptionally high, and this commitment is reflected in our pupils’ wellbeing. Health data shows that, on average, our children are healthier than the national average, with significantly fewer pupils classified as overweight. This demonstrates the positive impact of our approach and the effective use of Sports Premium funding.

Our goal is clear: to give every child the confidence, skills, and enthusiasm to enjoy physical activity now and in the future.
